Baseball team gets sponsors

TRAPASSO: His team will receive equipment
Two of the University of Hawai'i baseball team's early signees are guaranteed to be big contributors right away.

Easton Sports and Rawlings Sporting have signed multi-year sponsorship agreements with the Rainbows and will provide equipment in excess of $10,000 per season, coach Mike Trapasso said.

They will furnish bats, batting gloves, wrist bands, uniforms, hats, catching gear and gloves for the Rainbows. In addition, Trapasso will receive a contract of an unspecified amount to augment his bonus package.

Jim Darby, an Easton representative, said the equipment deal represents a 30 percent rise in commitment. "Each year Mike is here I have to believe there is gonna be a payoff for us in terms of exposure," Darby said.

"What they (Easton and Rawlings) are doing is signing on to our bandwagon," Trapasso said.
