Tip-off
Pat Sajak and Joe Moore on stage in 'Odd Couple'

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

News anchor Joe Moore, of KHON Fox 2, and game-show host Pat Sajak, of "Wheel of Fortune," will co-star in Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27, 28 and 29, and 4 p.m. Sept. 30, at the Hawai'i Theatre.

Pat Sajak and Joe Moore are "Odd couple" stars.
Because of public interest, tickets are already on sale — a month earlier than originally planned — through the Hawai'i Theatre box office.

The Manoa Valley Theatre is producing the comedy, in which Moore will portray the curmudgeonly, slobbish Oscar Madison, and Sajak the loveable neatness freak Felix Unger — the roles immortalized by Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon on the screen, and Jack Klugman and Tony Randall on the tube.

Moore is expected to take a break from his newscasts during the show's run. The play won a 1965 Tony Award for best author, best actor (Matthau) and best director.

Jim Hutchison is guest-directing the show for MVT. The cast also includes George O'Hanlon as Murray, Bob Whiting as Vinnie, Bill Ogilvie as Speed, Dwight Martin as Roy, Stephanie Conching as Gwendolyn and Zenia Zambrano as Cecily.

Tickets: $37, $27.50 and $17.50, with $3 discounts for seniors age 62 or over and $5 discounts for MVT 2001-2002 season subscribers and Hawai'i Theatre Center members; $35 tickets also available for a post-opening reception on Sept. 27, which includes wine, pupu and a chance to meet the stars.

Reservations: 528-0506.
