Notable unsolved homicides in the 1970s and 1980s:

• Margie Hauanio, 16, was beaten to death and her body found in a Waipahu pineapple field near Crestview, Nov. 17, 1975.

• Roiti Dias, 8, was kidnapped in Halawa while walking to school May 27, 1980, and later found dead with her throat slashed in a culvert near Waimea Beach Park.

• Lisa Au, 19, was last seen driving away from a Makiki apartment at 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 22, 1982. Her abandoned car was found near the old Kailua Drive-In, and her decomposed body was found nine days later on Tantalus. (Not pictured)

• Helen Correa, 22, of 'Ewa, was found deadOct. 8, 1984 in a Kunia cane field ditch. She had been strangled with a long key chain she wore around her neck. Correa was last seen at a Trinity United Methodist Church service a day earlier.

• Diane Suzuki, 19, a part-time dance instructor disappeared July 6, 1985. Police believe she was killed at Rosalie Woodson's Dance Academy in 'Aiea, but her body was never found despite massive searches.

• Jiezhao Li, 12, was last seen on Feb. 11, 1988, selling benefit chili tickets near the 7-Eleven store on Nu'uanu Avenue and North Kuakini Street.

Serial slayings:

• Vicky Gail Purdy, 25, of Mililani was raped and strangled. Her body was found with hands bound behind her back in Ke'ehi Lagoon on May 30, 1985. (Not pictured)

• Regina Sakamoto, 17, of Waipahu, was sexually assaulted and strangled. Her body was found with hands bound in Ke'ehi Lagoon on Jan. 15, 1986.

• Denise Hughes, 21, wife of a Pearl Harbor sailor, was sexually assaulted and strangled. Her decomposing body was found with hands bound, wrapped in blue plastic sheeting in a Mapunapuna drainage canal on Feb. 1, 1986.

• Louise Medeiros, 25, of Wai'anae, was likely abducted from a bus stop. Her decomposing body was found, hands tied, beneath a freeway overpass on April 2, 1986. Medeiros was three months pregnant.

• Linda Pesce, 36, of Moanalua, disappeared on her way home from work on April 29, 1986. Her decomposed body was found May 3, 1986, with her arms tied behind her back, at Sand Island.
