Woman killed in Kihei fire

A Maui woman died Friday evening in a Kihei house fire, Maui fire officials said.

The fire broke out around 8:20 p.m. at 661 Ka'apuni Place.

Three fire crews responded to the alarm. It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters found the body of a woman in her 40s inside the home. Authorities have not released her name pending notification of relatives.

Damage to the house and contents was estimated at $280,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
