CLASSES/WORKSHOPS

Elderhostel Program at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, opens registration for Hawai'i residents and non-residents, 55 years or older, for three sessions: Oct. 28-Nov. 3, Feb. 10-16, 2002, and March 10-16, 2002. Program includes gallery talks, slide lectures and field trips focusing on the art of Asia and the Pacific. $400 fee for residents, which includes meals, lectures, field trips, etc. but no hotel accommodations; $658 for non-residents or those needing accommodations. 532-3666.

DOCENT TRAINING

The Bishop Museum opens training for volunteer guides. The 10-week class, taught by kumu John Keola Lake, will continue each Saturday through Sept. 1. Tuition is $300 with some assistance available. Call for information: 848-4180.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts conducts interviews for Japanese language speakers interested in training as docents. Applicants must speak English and Japanese fluently and have an interest in art and culture. Call for an application: 532-3666.
