Two teenage boys were seriously injured today when their pickup truck sliced through a light pole and slammed into a tree in 'Ewa.

The crash happened just after 3 a.m. on Renton Road near Pepper Row Street. Police closed Renton Road in both directions for about four hours.

One of the 17-year-old 'Ewa boys was in critical condition and the other in guarded condition at Queen's Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

Their white pickup truck was heading toward Honolulu when it ran off Renton Road, severed a light pole, crossed onto the median and hit a tree, according to a fire official.

Traffic was diverted onto Pipeline Street as police investigated the crash, near 'Ewa Mill Park and Lanakila Baptist School.
