Bob Loy has succeeded Jim Lemon as news director of KGMB-9, the CBS television affiliate.

Loy, 51, a veteran Hawai'i journalist, was chief investigator for the station's Eye on Hawai'i investigative unit for nearly eight years, and was managing editor for the past three years. His investigative work has exposed government waste and corruption; his career spans two decades and includes stints on TV stations in Boise, Idaho; Corpus Christi, Texas; and Salt Lake City before his 1990 arrival in Hawai'i.

"Bob's passionate commitment to meaningful news coverage that makes a difference is a reflection of his dedication and commitment to our community," said Lynne Mueller, KGMB general manager.

Lemon had earlier expressed a desire to leave the news slot.
