Mall walk can help ease pain

By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

Those coping with grief are invited to join in the St. Francis Hospice Walk in the Mall Support Group.
Walking works as a way to grieve the loss of a loved one. Just ask members of the St. Francis Hospice Walk in the Mall Support Group.

Members believe that walking together offers a healthy way to cope with their grief and find support from others in the same situation. Organizers also want to show the community that grieving is normal and exercise can help ease the pain of losing a loved one.

Walkers meet at two locations: Pearlridge Center walkers meet every first Wednesday of the month and Kahala Mall walkers meet every third Wednesday of the month. Both groups walk from 8-9 a.m. The next get-together will be Wednesday at Pearlridge and June 20 at Kahala.

Members will also celebrate the second anniversary of the Walk in the Mall program in August. Celebration activities will take place Aug. 1 at Pearlridge Center and Aug. 15 at Kahala Mall, both from 8-10 a.m.

For more information or to register for monthly walks at either location, call 595-7566.
