Jeanine Yonashiro, a senior at Hawai'i Baptist Academy, received the 7th annual Gene Seiji Yagi Citizenship Award. The scholarship award of $6,000 is given annually to a Hawai'i Baptist Academy senior by the Law Offices of Ian L. Daisuke Roland Saito and Kristen Tanaka, students from Honolulu who attend Beloit College, received several awards at the college's Honors Day Convocation earlier last month, which is an annual event held to honor outstanding students and their accomplishments.

Saito was awarded the American Chemical Society Junior Analytical Chemistry Award, which recognizes a student who displays an aptitude for a career in analytical chemistry; and the David A. Norris Research Fellowship, which encourages and supports chemistry-related student research by providing money for research expenses and travel to present research.
Tanaka received the Elaine and Les McAllister Award, awarded to a junior majoring in the department of economics and management who best combines academic achievement, community contribution and financial need; the Andy Boggs Music Award, which recognizes an underclass student studying composition, and an instrument and/or conducting; and the Delta Gamma/Kathryn C. Goodwin Memorial Prize, awarded to a junior female student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship and leadership in campus activities.

The Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i awarded the following students with its Senior Research Awards, which were presented in conjunction with the 44th Hawai'i State Science & Engineering Fair: Marisa Joy K. Kellett of Kamehameha Schools, first place; Kiani A.J. Arkus of Kamehameha Schools and Candace S. Seu of Waiakea High, tied for second place.
