Philippines singer Jolina planning Blaisdell concert

Jolina Magdangal, a singer from the Philippines who is billed simply as Jolina, will perform at 7 p.m. June 30 at the Blaisdell Arena.

The event, entitled the Arriba Arriba Concert, also will feature Forte, the Island foursome.

Jolina is a triple-threat entertainer, who sings, dances and acts. She launched her career several years ago when she joined Ryan Cayabyab's 14-K, where she developed her performing skills that eventually landed her roles in numerous commercials, TV series and movies.

In her homeland, Jolina is the undisputed queen of the movie theme songs and soundtracks, recording Filipino favorites as well as Disney classics from such movies as "Pocahontas" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." In Hawai'i, her TV series can be seen on The Filipino Channel.

She has extended her popularity in international markets, including Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Guam, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Los Angles, San Diego, New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago.
