Leave McVeigh to live with his thoughts

So now Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh wants a stay of his execution.

Rather than fight him on this, the government should give him his wish. McVeigh dropped his appeals and scheduled his execution in hopes he would become a martyr and a source of inspiration for others with twisted ideas similar to his own.

His change of heart is in response to news that his defense team did not have access to some of the FBI's investigative documents. But it might also be in response to the growing reality that execution day is near.

Rather than killing McVeigh, the government should lock him away for life, denied of all but minimal human contact, so he can live long and hard with his own tortured thoughts.
