Tip-Off
Interactive mythic play invites you to dress up

Theatricus, a new Island theater group, will make its debut with "Beneath a Dragon's Wing," an interactive piece, from 10 a.m. to noon June 16, 17, 23 and 24 at Dole Playground Park on Magellan Avenue.

Theatricus is the brainchild of Brett Joubert, producer-director for the ensemble of 15 actors, who will perform the tale of Romney Black, a thief who unwittingly stumbles into a plot that could possibly spark a war among two powerful mythic kingdoms, boasting warriors, dragon lords, knights, sorcerers and more. There are mystical charms and medieval elements that pit the people of Nyveria, led by their King Kastigal, against the court of Cong Manii, led by Prince Ra'iir.

Joubert, a Kaimuki resident, is from Hawthorne, N.J. He describes Theatricus as "environmental theater," encouraging audience participation. "People in Hawai'i appreciate creativity and hard work," he said. The play is "a creative form of entertainment."

Members of the audience are invited to attend in fantasy costumes and interact with the mythical figures played by the actors.

Admission is free. Information: www.theatricus.com or 734-8237.
