HPU newspaper wins two awards

Hawai'i Pacific University's student newspaper, Kalamalama, has received the top national award for community service and a first-place award from the American Scholastic Press Association.
Kalamalama received the award for best community service for an April 2000 project on the Hawaiian Humane Society.
The newspaper also received the first-place-with-special-merit award for excellence in areas such as content coverage, page design, art and editing.
The press association serves more than 2,000 U.S. schools, colleges and universities.
