Home orders rise for Schuler

Honolulu-based Schuler Homes Inc. said yesterday that new-home orders for April and May, the first two months of its fiscal year, totaled 978 compared to 786 during the same period last year, a 24.4 percent increase.

In particular, the company's new orders in its California operations were up 73.7 percent. In addition, the company's backlog of homes yet to be delivered was 2,104 at May 31, 2001, compared to 1,675 at May 31, 2000, an increase of 25.6 percent.
