All aboard for fun and freebies! Rides on the Kaimuki-Kapahulu-Waikiki Trolley will be free to everyone on Family Fun "Free Day," 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to free transportation, passengers will have an opportunity to visit some of O'ahu's most charming neighborhoods as trolley guides narrate the history and culture found within these neighborhoods. There will also be live Hawaiian music on the trolleys, including Kawai Cockett (noon-2 p.m. Trolley No. 1) and Ellsworth Simeona and Dita Holifield (2-4 p.m. Trolley No. 1).

Riders can also take advantage of various community activities, as well as merchant discounts and offers from dozens of retail shops and restaurants along the route by showing their special "Free Day" stamp.

Some of these participating merchants and specials include: Harry's Music Store in Kaimuki, where customers will receive a $2 discount on Hawaiian CDs and 10 percent off music books; and Classic Surfboards in Kapahulu, where T-shirts, rashguards and stickers will be given away throughout the day.

There will be three trolleys making stops every 20 to 30 minutes at more than a dozen trolley stops, including the Market City Shopping Center stop, which serves as the trolley's hub. For more information about the event, call 524-6441 or 737-4125, or for more information about the trolley, visit www.co.honolulu.hi.us/dts/trolley.htm or call 566-7466.
