State second in tourism budget
Hawai'i's $61 million tourism budget made it No. 2 in the nation for state spending on visitor industry promotion in 2000-2001.
Illinois came in No. 1 at $61.1 million, an increase of 10 percent over the previous year, according to figures reported by the Travel Industry Association of America. Hawa'i's budget reflected a 1.7 percent increase. Florida, with a budget of $59.8 million a decline of 6.9 percent came in No. 3. Pennsylvania was No. 4 at $45.9 million, and Texas was No. 5 at $32.2 million.
Honsador buys supply company
Honsador Lumber Corp. said yesterday it has acquired the assets of Cameli Construction Supply of Kailua-Kona for an undisclosed price.
Cameli Construction, which will become part of Honsador's building materials supply business, started as a stucco supply business in 1983 and grew to become a leading supplier of masonry and drywall products in the state and Pacific Rim.
Barbara Cameli, founder of Cameli Construction, has joined the sales team at Honsador's Kona branch as product manager for the newly acquired product lines.
