Pump failure limits Hamakua water
Advertiser Staff
HONOKA'A, Hawai'i Hamakua residents were told yesterday to cut down on water use after a pump failed at the Haina well near Honoka'a early in the morning.
Civil Defense officials said the problem is expected to last about two weeks. The emergency restrictions will require all users to reduce water consumption by at least one-fourth.
County water lines in Honoka'a, Ahualoa, Kalopa, Pohakea and upper Pau'auilo are affected, according to the announcement by administrator Bill Davis.
Anyone with questions about the emergency may call Daryl Ikeda of the water department at 961-8790.
