Police closed the H-1 freeway for almost three hours early yesterday after a 49-year-old woman died in an accident near the Alexander Street on-ramp.

A 1986 Toyota Tercel driven by the woman struck a median, bounced off of it and came to a stop in the middle of the freeway. Traffic back-ups were reported around Mo'ili'ili and near the Punahou School and University of Hawai'i.
