Man in H-1 freeway jump dies

A man who jumped from a freeway overpass yesterday died of his injuries at the Queen's Medical Center, the city medical examiner's office said today.

He was pronounced dead at 9:56 a.m. after jumping from the Liliha Street overpass about 8:45 a.m. and suffering head injuries and fractured ribs.

Police and firefighters closed lanes on both sides of the H-1 Freeway for nearly half an hour.

A fingerprint check is still needed to confirm identity of the 53-year-old. An autopsy was scheduled for this morning.
