MUST-SEE: "Friends," 7 p.m., NBC. Few reasonable souls could resist an episode called "The One With Joey's New Brain." This terrific rerun has Joey returning to his old soap-opera role as a doctor. The catch is that the brain of a female character is being transplanted into the doctor's head. That means a veteran soap star — Susan Sarandon — is being ousted. For Joey, this is an ethical crisis.

"Mortal Kombat" (1995), 7 p.m., FOX. Lots of hardy heroes — played by Linden Ashby, Christopher Lambert and others — battle in a martial-arts tournament that will decide the fate of the Earth.

"JAG," 7 p.m., CBS. This rerun is the second half of a story that has Harm fighting a plan to assassinate the Russian president.

"Vertigo" (1958), 9 p.m., AMC. This Alfred Hitchcock film has James Stewart fearing heights and obsessing over Kim Novak.

"Spy TV," 7:30 p.m., NBC. NBC is suddenly gobbling up reality shows from Europe. This one is a little like "Candid Camera," but with much more elaborate stunts.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. This rerun offers a tough case: A killer has a knack for erasing the evidence.
