Lee & Li offers a double delight in Chinese food

Yes, it's fast. Yes, it's wildly affordable. Yes, yes, yes, the food is not only delicious, it's offered up in great quantity (and we all know how important that is in these food-obsessed Islands).

For instance, the plate-lunch special of ginger onion chicken with choy sum and rice ($4.85) is a hefty marvel. First, you're stunned at the great quantity of tender chicken dressed perfectly in the ginger onion sauce, then you're shocked that you couldn't stop eating all of it. Other lunch specials, at $4.85, include roast chicken or roast duck with choy sum and rice.

Of course, you could go the true plate-lunch way and pick out your favorite entrees; among the choices are black bean chicken, sweet sour pork, ma po tofu, jai (vegetarian monk's food almost like Popo used to make!), eggplant and pork hash in garlic sauce, various chicken dishes (including the can't-go-wrong ginger onion variety) and duck. A mini plate, which includes rice or chow mein and one entree item, is $3.75. Other plates offer two choices for $4.65 or three for $5.45.

And there are the $3.75 specials, including the oyster sauce chicken with choy sum and crispy noodles; beef broccoli with crispy or cake noodles; and black bean chicken with black mushrooms on rice.

Another bonus is that customer service is a stated priority of the friendly folks at Lee & Li (check out the signs on the walls). Tax is included in all prices.
