Islanders Dale Radomski and William "Bud" Stone-braker have reason to celebrate once again. Their hour-long documentary, "Damien (In the Footsteps of Christ)," was recently honored with a 2001 Telly Award, an award given to outstanding national non-network and cable productions.
Producer/director Radomski and writer/actor Stonebraker shot most of the program on location at Kalaupapa, Moloka'i, where Father Damien served Hansen's disease patients for 16 years before his death of the disease in 1889. The film follows the priest's life in the colony.
Dale Radomski's documentary has received its fourth award.
The film's success has pleased Radomski, who takes pride in that this "film with a Christian bent is winning awards in a secular environment."
The documentary, which was produced through 'ñlelo Community Television, had been recognized with a Western Access Video Excellence award, a Pegasis award and a Hometown Video award. The film can be seen at at www.ifilm.com.
