Flash flood watch canceled

The National Weather Service called off a flash flood watch this afternoon after the remains of Tropical Storm Barbara passed the Islands without causing major flooding.

The watch was posted yesterday for the entire state and was to remain up through 4:30 p.m. today, but was canceled at 4 p.m.

Some heavy, but short-lived rains were reported over parts of O'ahu this morning, however, no significant damage was reported.

Barbara is now northwest of Kaua'i and moving away from the state, the weather service said, and trade winds are returning.

There remains a chance of heavy showers or thundershowers tonight, but conditions are forecast to clear tomorrow.
