A woman was in guarded condition today after she was stabbed in the abdomen at her Kuhio Park Terrace apartment.

A 38-year-old man believed to be her estranged boyfriend was arrested after the attack. He was booked for kidnapping, first-degree assault, first-degree terroristic threatening, two counts of violating a protective order and assaulting a police officer.

The woman, 40, was taken to Queen's Medical Center.

Police investigating a report that the man broke into the apartment at 1:30 a.m., violating a court order to stay away from the woman, found he had fled before they arrived. Officers were called back to the apartment at 4:30 a.m.

The man allegedly kicked an officer who was trying to get him to open the door. Police eventually got into the unit and arrested the man.

The woman's two sons, ages 17 and 19, were in the apartment at the time of the arrest.
