Kaimuki man, struck by car on Sunday, dies at Queen's

An 82-year-old Kaimuki man struck by a car Sunday while crossing 10th Avenue at Hardesty Street died Tuesday at the Queen's Medical Center.

The medical examiner's office identified him as Kinichi Kobayashi. He was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m.

Police vehicular homicide investigators say Kobayashi was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck at 4:47 p.m. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors, police said.

Kobayashi is the 11th pedestrian killed on O'ahu's roadways this year, and the 32nd traffic fatality. O'ahu had 33 traffic fatalities on the same date last year.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian who was injured in Waimalu remains in critical condition at Queen's. The 72-year-old man was hit late Thursday night at Moanalua Road and Hekaha Street.
