Verdi's 'Requiem'

Giuseppe Verdi's "Requiem," considered to be one of the masterworks for voice and orchestra, will be performed in the Oahu Choral Society's fourth annual Hawai'i International Choral Festival, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Blaisdell Concert Hall. The performance — featuring Measha Brueggergosman, soprano; Linda Maguire, mezzo-soprano; Jeffrey Springer, tenor; and Leslie "Buz" Tennent, baritone — will be conducted by Timothy Carney. The concert marks the 100th anniversary of Verdi's death. Tickets: $45, $35, $25, $12.50; $5 student tickets also available. 792-2000.

Now it's 'WOW'

The Honolulu Dance Studio presents "WOW! A Contemporary Dance Concert" at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Ala Moana Centerstage. The program, which includes hip-hop, jazz and modern styles, showcases the choreography of director Cathy Izumi as well as that of Kerri Shintaku, Denise Morioka, Kristi Okasaki, Kevin Murata, Leanne Kirk, Jesse Abrescy, Jared Ake and Caron Hong. A thrilla with Bluzilla

Bluzilla, a Hawai'i blues band, will headline Hawai'i Public Radio's KIPO Blues Night at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Anna Bannanas, 2440 S. Beretania St. Group members are, front to back, Corey Funai, harmonica and vocals; Paul Gomes, drums; Rick Gonzales, bass; "Jamm" Aquino, guitar and vocals. Dancing feet

Put on your dancing shoes and learn the tango. Cecilia Gonzales of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Jean-Sebastien Rampazzi of Paris are presenting the "Tango Argentino With Cecilia and Jean-Sebastian," Saturday and Sunday at the Honolulu Club. Various levels and Latin dance styles will be offered, from 2 p.m. both days and stretching into the evenings. Up from the underground

The fact that some musicians play serious punk and ska doesn't mean they lack a soft spot for school kids. The bands playing the Underground Summer Rock Music Fest, from 8 p.m. Monday at World Cafe, are raising money to aid the Music Foundation of Hawaii, which supports music education programs. Featured bands include The Delinquents, Native Roots, Red Lites, Prom King, Readygo!, Theocracy A.D. and E.M.D. Tickets: $10 at the door. 951-6699.

Moon beams

The halau from New Hope Christian Fellowship is just one of the acts kicking off the Aston Full Moon Concert Series, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kapi'iolani Park Bandstand. It's a new parade of music, presented by the Aston Hotels & Resorts and the City & County of Honolulu. Others performing: Na Leo Pilimehana, Aaron Sala & the Tihati Serenaders, and Reign. Free. Performances with different lineups are planned for Aug. 4 and Oct. 31.

Two for the show

Honolulu the Band and Tino and the Rhythm Klub, who normally play different nights, will give special back-to-back shows from 9 p.m. today and Saturday at the Esprit nightclub in the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Honolulu boasts two new members, Bobby Gonzales (formerly of The Krush) and Amado Cacho (former "Miss Saigon" cast member), who have joined Jeannette Trevias, Tony Trevias, Ben Juan, John Ornellas and Ricky Trugillo. Tino and the Rhythm Klub features Tino Ibach, Lucky Salvador, Elmo Custodia and Hemingway Jasmine (formerly of The Krush), and Adney Atabay and Ricky Ricardo (formerly of Aura). 922-4422.
