TheBus fare increase begins Sunday

Effective Sunday, the city will increase its fares for TheBus and Handi-Van riders.

The new fares will be as follows:

• Adult cash fare: $1.50

• Youth cash fare: 75 cents

• Adult monthly pass: $27

• Youth monthly pass: $13.50

• Senior cash fare: 75 cents

• Senior two-year pass: $25

• Disabled cash fare: 75 cents

• Disabled two-year pass: $25

• Visitor four-day pass: $15

• Football Express fare: $3

• Handi-Van cash fare: $2

The city has also begun selling its new annual bus pass for $300 for adults and $150 for students.

The annual pass is good for unlimited bus transportation for a full year from the month of purchase. The new annual pass saves adults $24 and youths $12 over the purchase of 12 monthly passes. Annual bus passes are not transferable. The actual user must purchase the annual pass, as it will be personalized with a photograph.

Annual passes are sold at TheBus headquarters, 811 Middle St. The bus pass office is open weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., except holidays. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
