Makaha Sons plan benefit concert

The Makaha Sons will headline "Ho'ala Ka 'Ike," a benefit concert, at 7:30 p.m. March 31 at the Hawai'i Theatre. The event, a fund-raiser for Mental Health Kokua, will be the first major appearance by Sons member John Koko, following a heart-related surgery a few weeks ago. Other Sons are his brother Jerome Koko and Louis "Moon" Kauakahi. The concert also will feature Colón, the trio comprised of Jake Shimabukuro, Lopaka Colón and Guy Cruz, and Halau Hula O Maiki. Proceeds will help Mental Health Kokua continue its charitable services. Tickets: $25, on sale at the box office. Charge by phone: 528-0506.

Vocalist Jay Larrin performance set

Jay Larrin, a singer-pianist-composer of wistful Island songs, will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday - St. Patrick's Day - in the Honolulu Suite of the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Larrin is the vocalist and author of such signature hits as "The Snows of Mauna Kea," "Little Lei Lady" and "Winner's Song." Tickets: $25. Reservations: 371-2910.
