Ala Moana hi-jacking reported

Two people escaped injury this morning in a reported Ala Moana car-jacking where a robber brandished a handgun and fled with their car.

The robbery occurred at 1 a.m. in a parking lot at 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard, police said.

Police said the woman was sitting in her car with a friend when an unknown man walked up and ordered them out of the car. The man flashed a handgun and then drove off with the car. No one was injured in the robbery.

The robber stole a 1996 black Nissan Sentra four-door sedan with license GGC-926. The robber was described as a Caucasian man, in his 30s, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 160 pounds, with blonde hair. He was wearing a green jacket with blue jeans.

Police have opened a first-degree robber investigation into the case.

The last high-profile car-jacking case happened on Nov. 19, 2000, when four robbers attacked customers at a Kalihi Jack in the Box and stole a car. The robbers then plundered a Kailua 7-Eleven and a Pearl City Chevron station. The four men were later caught by police.
