JAMES THOMAS PETTUS JR., 81, of 'Aina Haina, died March 10, 2001. Born in St. Louis, Mo. A colonel in the U.S. Army Air Corps who flew B-24 Liberators with the Fifth Air Force's 43rd Bombardment Group and a free-lance journalist for Associated Press.
