Let's face it: Parenting isn't an easy job. So it's no surprise that many moms and dads appreciate any guidance they can get.

The Mililani YMCA will offer free parenting workshops, 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 20 and 27, presented by Linda Shiraishi, a member of the Association of Psychological Type, Good Beginnings Alliance and the Hawai'i Counseling Association.

She said that one of the purposes of the workshop is to help parents improve their communication skills.

Shiraishi will describe the major psychological gifts that people naturally develop, and estimate the psychological gifts of parents and their children.

She will also analyze common problems between parents and children of different gifts, as well as prescribe some strategies for dealing with those problems as well as problems suggested by workshop participants.

The YMCA will provide child care for those who make reservations up to the day before the workshop. For information or to register, call 625-1040.
