Search continues for missing man

Advertiser Staff

Searchers today continued looking for a 44-year-old San Francisco man who has been missing since Monday night after telling a friend he was going swimming at Maili Beach.

The search resumed at 8 a.m. today.

Raymond D. Magallanes was last seen Monday when he went to the beach alone. He was reported missing by friends at about 10 p.m. Monday.

Police found Magallanes' rental car with belongings, including his wallet and cell phone, at the beach. His beach chair, cooler, shirt, towel, bag and slippers also were found, police said.

Witnesses saw Magallanes walking toward the water, police said.

A helicopter searched the area on Monday night. Yesterday, the helicopter was joined by divers and state land agency employees on jet water craft. The same crews will be used today, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo.
