Penitani now 9-2

Advertiser Staff

Yokozuna (grand champion) Musashimaru turned No. 6 maegashira Asashoryu around, wrapped his beefy right arm around his neck and forced him to the mat to improve to 9-2 on Day 11 of the 15-day Spring Grand Sumo Tournament today in Osaka, Japan.

The win kept Musashimaru — Hawai'i's Fiamalu Penitani — in a three-way tie for third place.

Ozeki (champion) Kaio leads at 11-0, followed by yokozuna Takanohana at 10-1.
