"Michael Jordan to the Max": A large-format IMAX film about the career of basketball legend Michael Jordan with Jordan and actor Laurence Fishburne. Opens tomorrow at IMAX Waikiki. (N).
"Before Night Falls": Based on Reinaldo Arenas' memoir, this film chronicles his struggles as a homosexual poet and novelist in Cuba. Arenas (Javier Bardem) is imprisoned after being falsely accused of molestation, and eventually flees to the United States in the 1980 boatlift. Arenas died of AIDS in 1990. Opens tomorrow at Varsity Twin. (R).
"The Brothers": Three African-American yuppies must confront their problems with commitment and honesty when they learn that their longtime friend is getting married.
