If Hawai'i residents want to try to see the MIR space station burn up as it falls into the South Pacific, the Internet, not the sky, is the place to watch, the Bishop Museum said yesterday.
Hawai'i folks won't be able to see the re-entry because the path is too far to the southwest.
Splashdown is expected between 8 and 9 p.m., Hawa'i time.
One Web site to watch is www3.mirreentry.com, which is flying a plane out of Fiji to try to observe the descent, said Larry Wiss, international space station program producer at the museum.
Seats on the aircraft went for $6,500 each.
No Hawai'i residents are known to have ponied up the price of a ticket, Wiss said.
