Senior class sweeps Kamehameha Song Contest

The Class of 2001 swept all six awards tonight at the 79th Kamehameha Schools Song Contest.
About 1,800 students participated in the songfest at the Blaisdell Center arena.
The theme of this year's event was Na Himene O Ka Ekalesia, a tribute to Hawaiian church hymns.
Here is the list of award winners: Louise McGregor Award (best director): Crystak Mateo, a senior from 'Aiea. 'Olelo Makuahine Award (Hawaiian language performance): Senior women. New England Mother's Cup (top women's performance): Senior class. George Alanson Andrus Award (top men's performance): Senior class. Helen Desha Beamer Award (top class performance): Senior women. Charles E. King Cup (top combined class): Senior class.
