Martha Stewart to be on 'Car Talk'

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

Martha Stewart, the guru of home decorating and style, will talk "car aesthetics" on National Public Radio's "Car Talk" show, hosted by Click and Clack, from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow on KIPO-89.3 and KIFO-1380 and again from 5 to 6 p.m. on KHPR-88.1, KKUA-90.7 and KANO-91.1.

The unlikely meeting of Stewart and the Magliozzi brothers, Tom and Ray (Click and Clack), happened in Boston when the brothers were taping their radio show and Stewart was readying her "Martha Stewart Living" TV show.

Stewart's daughter, a "Car Talk" fan, dared Click and Clack to invite her mother on the show.

Song contest on TV, Internet

Kamehameha Schools' 79th Song Contest, a sellout at the Blaisdell Arena tonight, will be shown live on KHON-2 and, for the first time, on the Internet.

The broadcast, sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank and Alexander & Baldwin, begins at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-contest video featuring 23 Hawaiian churches from around the state, whose congregations range in size from three to 1,000. The song contest follows, at 7:30 p.m., with the theme "Na Himeni O Ka Ekalesia – Hawaiian Church Hymns."

Sprint Hawai'i's Web cast will be viewable around the world through the Kamehameha Web site, www.ksbe.edu; users should click on the song contest button. The Internet feed will include both audio and visual feeds, utilizing Sprint's video streaming service via its Tier 1 nationwide data network. Sprint also is storing the broadcast for access later.

Leslie Wilcox, KHON's morning news anchor, will be the host for the live program, along with Lilinoe Ka'ahanui, a Kamehameha Schools language instructor, and Timothy Ho, a performing arts teacher.
