Mid-Pacific, 'Iolani remain unbeaten

Ryan Basco pitched a two-hit, complete-game shutout to boost Mid-Pacific to a 9-0 victory over Maryknoll in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball game at Mid-Pacific field.

The Owls and 'Iolani remained undefeated in the ILH with 3-0 records.

Mid-Pacific was led by home runs by Isaac Omura and Matt Inouye. Omura, Kyle Yanabu and Ricky Bauer each had two hits for the Owls.

'Iolani 16, Kamehameha 4: Travis McGaughy pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in a game shortened to five innings as the Raiders defeated the Warriors at Ala Wai Field.

Kila Kaaihue (2-for-2) hit a two-run home run, and Brad Takamori went 3-for-4 with a triple for 'Iolani.

OIA BASEBALL

Roosevelt 3, Moanalua 2: Corey Higa scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Joey Shimabuku was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association East game at Stevenson Intermediate Field on Wednesday.

With Moanalua leading 2-0, John Higa was hit by a pitch to lead the Roosevelt seventh. Ryan Kotani walked. On a passed ball, Higa went to third and Kotani to second. Corey Higa hit a single to score John Higa, moving Kotani to third.

After Corey Higa stole second, Booth Kiyota singled, scoring Kotani to tie the game and moving Higa to third. Blake Isobe was intentionally walked to fill the bases before Shimabuku was hit by a pitch to score Higa.

Moanalua used three pitchers in the inning. Winning pitcher Chris Mols pitched a complete game, allowing four hits, striking out five and walking three.

MAUI BASEBALL

Maui pitchers perfect: Ikaika Lau Hee and Manu Kaina combined on a perfect game, and Maui High pounded 19 hits in a 17-0 victory over Ka'ahumanu Hou in a Maui Interscholastic League baseball game at Iron Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

Lau Hee faced the first nine batters and struck out five. Kaina struck out three of the six batters he faced in the game, shortened to five innings by the league's 10-run rule.

In another game, King Kekaulike defeated St. Anthony, 8-4.


ILH GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kamehameha 55, Maryknoll 28: Tai Soo led all scorers with 12 points and Megan Ching added 10 as the Warriors defeated the visiting Spartans.
