Weekend rides planned

Here is the weekend ride calendar. Hawai'i Bicycling League weekend rides are free and open to the public.

Tomorrow

Beyond Waimanalo Ride. 6:30 a.m. A great ride around the eastern coastline of O'ahu. Meet at the Paki parking lot across the street from the Paki tennis courts in Kapi'olani Park. Intermediate ride, approximately 45 miles.

Intermediate Off-Road Ride. 7:30 a.m. Meet Kalani Clark at the corner of Dole and Frank (near the university) for a two-hour intermediate off-road ride up St. Louis. For information, call 735-6679.


Sunday

Tandem Brunch Ride. 7:30 a.m. Park on the street and meet at the entrance to the Kane'ohe Yacht Club (KYC) at 44-503 Kane'ohe Bay Drive for a leisurely tandem ride through Kane'ohe, Kailua and Lanikai. Approximately 15 miles. Single bikes welcome. Waterside brunch at the yacht club at the end of ride. Please RSVP to ride leaders, Pete Krape or Rebekah Luke at 237-8430.


March 31

Town to Kailua Ride. 6:30 a.m. A great ride around the eastern coastline of O'ahu. Meet at the Paki parking lot across the street from the Paki tennis courts in Kapi'olani Park. Intermediate ride. Approximately 50 or more miles.


April 1

Beginners Ride. 8 a.m. Meet at Kapi'olani Community College campus on the back of Diamond Head on Monsarrat Avenue in the parking lot next to the white church. Discussion on bike adjustment, riding technique, bike handling, riding in traffic, braking, etc., followed by a 45-minute ride around Kahala. Participants' bikes must be in good mechanical condition. Goal is to help cyclists feel more comfortable, confident and efficient while riding.

Metric Century Warm-Up Ride No. 1. 8 a.m. In preparation for the April 22 annual HBL Hale'iwa Metric Century Ride, meet at Blaisdell Park in Pearl City. Event will take riders on bike path out to Waipahu, then Farrington Highway to Fort Weaver Road, to 'Ewa Beach Park and return. Approximately 25 miles, 3-4 hours. Intermediate level.
