Skateboarder hurt in hit-run accident

Police were seeking a hit-and-run driver who struck a 15-year-old skateboarder in Wai'anae Friday evening.

The victim was in the Queen's Medical Center intensive care unit in serious but stable condition. He suffered a broken left hand and a laceration to the back of his head.

The 9:57 p.m. accident occurred at the intersection of Moekahi and Moelua streets.

A dark-colored pickup truck heading northwest on Moekahi Street collided with the skateboarder heading the opposite direction, police said.

The truck driver traveled a block and a half before stopping momentarily, then left the scene.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call HPD's Traffic Division at 529-3499.
