Calling all yo-yo pros (and pros-in-training). Bust out your "Renegades" or "YoYoJams" and get ready for some serious competition at the Windward Regional

Yo-Yo Tournament, 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Windward Mall.

Whether you come to compete or just want to check out the latest techniques ofIisland-wide competitors, this tournament, sponsored by the Special Dreams children's store at Windward Mall, promises to be an entertaining event for yo-yo enthusiasts.

Steven Fukuda, manager of Special Dreams, said he hopes the tournament helps promote the positive aspects of playing with yo-yos. Fukuda said, for example, that it is a healthy, outdoor activity that can strengthen hand-eye coordination.

The tournament is free and open to boys and girls ages 5 and up. Contestants must register at the event and can qualify to compete in six different divisions, which are based on the contestants' skill level. Must-know basic tricks include "walk the dog," "rock the cradle" and "breakaway."

There will be five winners per division, with each first-place winner receiving up to $200 worth of yo-yos.
