Jeff Schatz has been named general manager of New Wave Broadcasting Hawai'i, which operates five radio stations in Honolulu. The New Wave cluster includes KPOI-97.5 ("The Rock you Live On"); KKBM-102.7 (Da Bomb); KQMQ-93-1 (The Q Ð"The Beat of Hawai'i"); KORL-99.5 ("Soft Rock Island Style"); and KQMQ-690 (Radio Disney). Schatz, a 16-year radio veteran and Punahou graduate, was director of sales for Tribune Radio in Denver and previously served in sales management with Summit Broadcasting in Denver and Citadel Communications in Colorado Springs.
Clear Channel Hawai'i has named Paul Wilson director of programming for its seven radio stations in Hawai'i, as well as program director for KSSK AM/FM. Wilson was most recently program director of Trumper Communications' KOSY in Salt Lake City, Utah. Clear Channel also operates KHVH AM, KUCD, KDNN FM, KIKI FM AND KHBZ AM.
Marc Resorts Hawai'i has made several appointments following the naming of Matthew Delaney as chief executive officer last year: Glenn Nakamura, vice president of operations; Anthony Stone, vice president, sales and marketing; Kazumasu "Kazu" Tamura, associate vice president, sales, and resort manager for the Marc Island Colony; Maria Arceneaux, director of corporate sales; Kathryn Acorda, marketing director and Cathleen Gleason, sales manager.
Constance Cate has been named to head up an East Hawai'i Center of the Hawai'i Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network. Becky Winters, former director of the office in Hilo, has been charged with developing a new West Hawai'i SBDC, with headquarters in Kailua, Kona. The Hilo office is at 100 Pauahi St., Suite 109. Attorney Alan Oshima, founding partner of Oshima Chun Fong & Chung law firm has been named chairman of the YMCA of Honolulu board of directors. Oshima has served as the board's first vice chairman and in leadership positions with development committees, task forces, and fund-raising campaigns.
Hawaiian Host Inc., manufacturer of Hawaiian Host Chocolates, has announced two appointments: Rosalie A. Romo, marketing assistant, assisting marketing department endeavors in advertising, public relations and sales support, and Cherell T. Hane, direct marketing assistant, with responsibilities for Web site, mail order catalog sales, and marketing department support.
Gary E. Oda, former vice president and controller of Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawai'i, has been named vice president and chief financial officer of contracting firm, Allied Builders System. Previously, he was business assurance manager for Coopers & Lybrand, Honolulu.
Haku J. Applegate has been named general manager of Basil Tomatoes Italian Grille, at Ka'anapali, Maui.
Dave Franks has been named director of marketing for Higa Industries Hawaii'i Inc., and its 19 Domino's Pizza stores in Honolulu and Maui.
Clifford E. Olson has been promoted to vice president of operations for the Pacific Region of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. As such, he assumes duties of general manager of the Outrigger Guam Resort, while overseeing the operation of the Outrigger Marshall Islands Resort. He replaces Dorsey Brady, new general manager of the Outrigger Wailea Resort, Maui. Olson was most recently general manager of the Outrigger Reef on the Beach hotel, and before that, Outrigger Kaua'i Beach Hotel.
Charles Okazaki has been named resident manager for the 713-room Hawaiian Waikiki Beach Hotel. He was most recently resident manager of the Kama'ole Sands in Kihei, Maui.
Jason George, former annual giving manager at the Hawai'i Foodbank, has been named community relations director for Parents and Children Together (PACT).
Darryl Ishii, former assistant store manager for Lowe's Waikele store, has been named manager for the City Mill Co. Ltd. store in Mililani.
Tracie Mukai has been named manager of the Finance Factors Ltd. Kailua branch. Mukai joined the bank in 1996 as management trainee, and was most recently sales support specialist.
