Beethoven 'Mass' at Central Union

Central Union Church's 100-voice Oratoria Choir and Central Sinfonia orchestra will present Beethoven's "Mass in C Major, Opus 86," at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, at the corner of Beretania and Punahou.

The piece was written in 1807, the same year Beethoven completed his Fifth Symphony. Admission is free, but voluntary donations will be accepted. Information: 941-0957.

Ehime Maru rites on 'Olelo TV

"Ehime Maru Aloha," a one-hour program on a memorial service for the families of the victims in the Ehime Maru collision with the USS Greeneville, will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday on NATV, Channel 53. It will repeat at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The program features a performance by 'ukulele stylist Jake Shimabukuro of his musical tribute to the nine Ehime Maru crewmen and students, who perished in the Feb. 9 collision.

The mayors of Honolulu and Uwajima attended the tribute, with entertainment by kumu hula John Lake and his halau and the Royal Hawaiian Band.
