Tube Notes

MUST-SEE: "What About Joan" premiere, 8:30 p.m., ABC: Here comes a show that swirls with comic energy. Joan Cusack, the offbeat actress who has had two Academy Award nominations for best supporting actress, plays a teacher dating a handsome banker (Kyle Chandler). She's just starting to like the guy when he decides he wants to marry her. That throws her into a tizzy.

"That '70s Show," 7 p.m., Fox: Valerie Harper guest-stars as the sister of Eric's mom. Her success causes some family strain.

"Mysterious Ways," 7 p.m., Pax TV: In the wake of gang trouble, churchgoers see an inspiring vision.

"Frasier," 8 p.m., NBC: Frasier and Niles are hoping their dad will keep romancing a rich woman.

"Dark Angel," 8 p.m., Fox: For one week, the show steps away from its dreary dark landscape. Max visits a small town – and finds fresh problems, including a haunted boy.

"NYPD Blue," 9 p.m., ABC: There are worries about who will take over now that Fancy has been promoted.

"Private Benjamin" (1980), 8 p.m., TNT: Goldie Hawn is terrific as a rich woman who ends up in the Army.
