Tourist falls 32 floors to death

A 58-year-old Japanese tourist died last night after he fell from the 32nd floor of a Waikiki hotel, police said.

The fall happened at 9:50 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, 2424 Kalakaua Ave., and was witnessed by the man's wife and a room service waiter, police said.

Police said the man and his wife had dinner on their hotel room lanai on the 32nd floor because they were scheduled to leave early this morning.

While the room service waiter was serving their dessert, the man developed a cramp in his leg while he was standing near the balcony railing. For some reason, he stood on his chair. He lost his balance and fell over the railing, police said. There were no signs of foul play and police classified the case as an unattended death.
