Loose Screws opens up Lizard Loft

A performance by Loose Screws, an improvisational theater group, at 8 p.m. April 7, will launch the reopening of Lizard Loft, an alternative performing venue for cutting-edge artists in a variety of art forms, at its new home base, Marks Garage in Chinatown.
Loose Screws will perform two acts of cavalry-style improv comedy. Its members include DC, Dan Kois and R. Kevin Doyle. Tickets: $10 at the door.
The Loft also also will play host for the following opening-month shows:
- "Solo Art," at 7:30 p.m. April 9 Ü An evening of solo artistry, with Properboy (visual graffix), James McCarthy (songs and storytelling), Alex Akamine (songs plus kazoo-a-go-go), Sunshine DJ (vinyl angel), Rick Valdez (spoken words), Ginko Marschino (butch performance art), Nick Sayada (guitar), Michelle Umipeg (monologue), Susan Copp (double bass improv) and Crystal (songs). Tickets: $5.
- "Tales of Urban Hawai'i," at 7:30 p.m. April 16 and 23. Featuring Ray Bumatai and Mossrock, a Pacific folk band, in an evening of music and story-telling; with Bumatai on guitar, Matt Souza on bass; and Jon Glaser on drums. Tickets: $10.
- "Off the Page," at 7:30 p.m. April 3. A literary presentation. Tickets: $3.
