Beach walk to raise funds for breast-cancer patients
The fourth annual Promise of Hope Beach Walk to raise funds for the Stacy Brookfield Cancer Foundation will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday at the beach park across from Buzz's Steak House near the entrance to Lanikai.
Funds raised by those pledging to walk along the beach will be used to help young women fighting breast cancer.
Stacy Brookfield died of an aggressive form of breast cancer in 1997 at the age of 29. Her battle with the disease and her treatment were chronicled in a series of stories in The Advertiser and other news media. After her death, her husband Jonathan Brookfield pledged to continue the battle by helping other young women also facing the disease.
All of the money raised will go directly to the nonprofit foundation. For more information or to get a pledge sheet, call 261-5541.
