The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished tied for sixth in the nine-team Western Athletic Conference Championships completed yesterday at Broken Arrow, Okla.

BASKETBALL

Gabrielova honored: University of Hawai'i point guard Janka Gabrielova joined players from Women's National Invitation Tournament champion Ohio State and runner-up New Mexico on the WNIT all-tournament team.

Gabrielova, named the Wahine's Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the end of the season, averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in four WNIT games. She helped Hawai'i reach its first final four, where it lost to New Mexico.

"She played really well in the WNIT," UH coach Vince Goo said of Gabrielova. "She didn't do anything differently than what she did throughout the year, but she was consistent the whole tournament. She had her best games. She's really getting to understand the system."

The Lobos lost the WNIT championship game to Ohio State, 62-61, before 18,018 at The Pit. Jamie Lewis, the Buckeyes' senior point guard was the WNIT's MVP. Teammate Courtney Coleman was also on the all-tournament team, along with New Mexico's Chelsea Grear and Jordan Adams, and James Madison's Shanna Price.

Goo, his staff and current and former players will conduct two camps next month. The first, June 15-17, is for girls and boys, ages 5-13. The second, June 22-24, is for girls ages 14-18.

Both sessions will be at the Stan Sheriff Center and campus gyms. Each camp has a $75 fee, which includes personalized instruction, station work, a 5-on-5 tournament, NCAA information and other techniques and strategies.

Deadline for applications is June 7. For more information, call 956-2710 or 956-4507.
