Leak in Wahiawa sewage line found

State health officials on Friday detected a sewage line leak near the Poamoho Stream bridge, between the Poamoho campsite and the Dole Pineapple stand.

A break in a line to an air relief valve caused the leak. The line was secured and the leak stopped.

The U.S. Army Garrison, Hawai'i Directorate of Public Works will test bacteria levels at various sites along the stream for three to four days. Warning signs posted in the area advise avoiding contact with the spill. There is no danger to the drinking water system.
