Kids Day: Helping programs for families

Today is Kids Day, and all over town special copies of this newspaper are being sold by volunteer "News Kids."

These volunteers are donating an hour or more to raise money for Parents and Children Together, which helps children, families in trouble and families at risk.

Parents and Children Together has numerous programs designed to strengthen families. Some of its work includes: Respite Care, which helps parents under stress; Therapeutic Wrap-Around, with counseling and support services for children with emotional or physical challenges; the Family Peace Center, which teaches nonviolent alternatives for conflicts; and the Domestic Abuse Response Team, which provides crisis intervention and counseling and information at domestic abuse scenes.

Parents and Children Together, in business for more than 30 years, is involved in almost every facet of family service, from rescuing families on the verge of falling apart to preventive measures aimed at keeping families from getting into trouble.

This is important work; work that saves money and heartache by stopping problems before they start.

When you buy a special edition today, remember it's for the kids and their future.
